Securing State Funding
Goal:
Educate on model developmental disability services, especially in quality employment, and obtain funding to establish organic farm that creates access in food deserts and jobs.
Results:
Researched the government grant funding landscape and prioritized best ones to pursue
Provided introductions to key program managers within target agencies to learn priorities, past recipients, what looking for and ways to tailor submission to maximize likelihood for success
Presented funding request to key state leaders to pursue matching Capital Budget funding and explained project in terms of health, job creation and economic development benefits
Organized Open House to give tours and educate legislators
Engaged those using the services to communicate the value of program
$100,000 in Farm to School and Local Food Promotion USDA grant funding
$225,000 in Capital Budget
