Congressional Briefing on the Epilepsies Highlights
Advocate extraordinaire Gabrielle Conecker explains why the Pediatric-Onset Epilepsies Consortium is needed at the recent Congressional Briefing on the Epilepsies. Thanks to her sharing the story of her 10-year old son, Elliott, who lives with a rare form of epilepsy. Members of Congress and staff were educated on his daily life and the vast impact on families and communities of this neurological condition with a total financial burden of $54 million per year. The time has come to put meaningful investment into research surveillance and this consortium to improve patient outcomes.
